Taking Criticism
One of the writers that I'm handling had been having problems following instructions. A few minutes ago, she just sent her resignation saying that she is feeling frustrated because her articles do not get approved week after week after week. Well, definitely not all of them but a good portion of her articles.
I feel like this is a bad reflection of the work that I do. However, on my end, I'm just doing my job. I'm in the middle. I need to make sure that the writers know what they're doing and I also need to make sure that the clients like the articles that we give them. As they say, I'm the last line of defense. We do not want the clients to dislike the articles or else, we lose business - which is not good.
So anyway, here's what I think. Some people are just not used to getting negative feedback. Some are just not open to changes in rules. We send out updates and it looks like this writer hasn't been reading the emails or has not been understanding what the emails were saying.
In the world of BPO/freelance/outsourcing, things are constantly changing. One has to know how to adjust especially if the rules are from your boss. Honestly, I'm feeling bad that she has decided to leave and that I feel like I am at fault here. However, from what I'm seeing, all the other writers have no problems with the changes in rules. So I'm thinking that this is just an isolated incident.
I'll be taking this experience with me and learn from it. That's the best thing I can do right now. I know what my boss is going to say. He would ask me, "Is she one of our good writers?" I'll definitely answer truthfully and tell him, "No." Then he'll tell me to send an email back and focus on the job at hand.
I feel bad for sharing this here but I just had to share it. Plus, no names were mentioned. LOL.
