Trying To Conquer My Fear Of Dentists
My first visit to the dentist when I was young was for a tooth extraction. It was, of course, painful. It was also terrifying for me. I couldn't scream because my mouth was open. I also had to spit out blood after the tooth was removed.
After that, my mom thought that I was fine. Well, I also thought I was fine. So we went to do the groceries. While we were there and waiting for our turn to pay for our purchases, I fainted. Well, I'm also afraid of blood - real blood you see gushing out of you.
So I grew up fearing dentists. I've had 4 dentists already. The 4th one was pretty okay. But I still wasn't up for a tooth extraction. But he knew my fears and was okay with it.
Now, I'm with a new dentist. My fifth one. LOL. My previous dentist was good but I realized that he was already getting old and so were his methods. He was not up to more complicated procedures. He'd rather remove a tooth compared to doing a root canal or whatever alternative.
Every time I visit the dentist, I still feel anxious. I am nervous. And I just want to walk away. But I'm trying my best not to be afraid.
