In The Twilight Zone
After watching the movie Twilight, I just could not get enough of it. I honestly had been watching it for a couple of times already. And it doesn’t matter if the copy’s not high in quality. Hey, it’s only a copy I downloaded somewhere over the internet. But still. I’ve even got this habit of deleting a poor copy of a movie the moment I finish watching it. But I guess it doesn’t work over Twilight.
The thing is, I never really knew about Twilight before (just so you know, it first came as a novel). I have never even heard of Stephenie Meyer, the author of this book, right only until around a month ago when a friend who’s still in high school dropped by our home and was lugging around this really thick book. I thought it was a reprint of some high school novel like El Filibusterismo or maybe Noli Me Tangere. But I was dead wrong. It was a novel and it seemed like it was a huge hit among high school kids. Maybe even some college kids. I have honestly never heard of people my age who had been Twilight and Stephenie Meyer fans before the movie came out.
So what did I like about Twilight? Well, let’s see. There’s Bella. She’s this pretty cool girl who’s fitting quite nicely in the new town where she is in. Yeah. Forks, Washington. That’s where she lives right now. And I just could not fathom her being so brave, talking to Edward Cullen (her love interest) about her learning that he is a vampire. I mean, what if he just suddenly swoops down and sucks the blood out of her? Oh well. If it was written quite well in the book, sorry. I just hadn’t read the book yet and the movie did not make me understand that well why she is not scared. Well, I would be. That Edward guy’s not that hot, IMHO.
Also, I could not really get it how all the people in the town did not notice that these kids and their father, the town doctor, were not getting any older. I mean, wouldn’t they be thinking just how this family did not change how they looked? How about the doctor? Didn’t the patients ever get a big surprise each time the doctor touches them? I mean, vampires can get literally very cold. I dunno.
But yeah, I do love the strength that these vampires have. Well, it was only Edward who displayed much of his prowess. And that scene where he and Bella were climbing up these really tall trees without much effort on Edward’s end even if he was carrying Bella on his back, I was thinking, “Wow!” And the next thing that I was thinking was just how nice it would be to take photos from that position. Okay. That shutterbug in me just saw the view and really found it cool. Imagine, you would probably be the only person who could take images from that angle. Plus, there was no need for you to get a helicopter. All you needed was an Edward Cullen.
This may be the first time I am admitting this (you may have probably ‘learned’ about it in my previous posts), but I guess I am a hopeless romantic. I was just thinking that maybe, just maybe, if most men were like Edward Cullen, then girls would be having a totally grand love life. I don’t actually mean looking like Edward and being a vampire. See, Edward talks different in the sense that he’s not crude nor arrogant. He’s gentle and knows his way around words. And he also knows how to take care of those people close to him. *Sigh*
Another thing I liked about the movie was their interpretation of what vampires really are. I am a sucker for various interpretation of things. I mean, with vampires, when movies were just starting, the interpretation was this creature who was pale and had a cape and had really long fangs that extended just around the chin. Yep. That long. That was the interpretation in the movie, Nosferatu. This time, vampires didn’t live in coffins. They just did not eat or drink. They could be what you may call the vegetarian version of a vampire - they drank animal blood instead of humans’. And they do not melt in the sun. Instead, they sparkle. Nice, right? Also, there is this other interpretation of vampire that I came across while watching Supernatural. They also looked like normal people. It’s just that their fangs were like retractable teeth above the normal set. And they could be pretty vicious.
Anyway, that’s that. I will start reading the novels. I just could not get enough of that Edward Cullen guy.
Oh, by the way. Did you know that the Twilight craze is infecting a lot of people already? SMS messages are already going around sharing Twilight stuff. Here’s some that I’ve received so far:
Dying in the place of someone you love is a good place to go. -Bella
Reasons why a lot of girls love Edward Anthony Masen Cullen. A normal guy would say: I love you! Edward would say: You are my life now. As you leave the house, a normal guy would say: Bye, see ya! Edward would say: Hurry back to me. When you’re far away, a normal guy would say: I miss you. Edward would say: It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you. If you die, a normal guy would find another. Edward would kill himself because life without you is a life not worth living.
I wish normal people have a heart like vampires do. Once they fall in love, they never fall out of it.
Have a happy Twilight experience!
