The Beaches Need Our Help
I'm guilty. I've messed up our beaches in my own way. Smoked a couple of cigs and thrown it right at the beach. Ate some food, drank something, and left the trash right there.
The very first time that I became aware of what I was doing at the beach was when I went to Bohol with two of my former housemates. We noticed that the city was quite clean. Street sweepers were cleaning continuously and you can't see a single leaf or cigarette butt or candy wrapper lying around. That made me feel like the place was so clean that it would be too wrong to mar it by throwing something anywhere, except the trash can.
Then, when we went to Panglao Island, we saw the same scenario - clean streets, clean beach. So while eating and drinking and smoking on the beach was not prohibited, we decided to clean up after ourselves. We would take all our trash with us back to the hotel where we were staying and dispose of our garbage there.
The water was so clean that we could see what was beneath - even when we took boat rides. You could really see the seagrass, the starfishes, and all other things beneath the surface. There was a part there though where we saw some pieces of trash floating on the water. I couldn't help but wish that I had magical hands that could pick up those pieces of trash and dispose of them properly.
Sometimes, we really forget to take care of things. We forget that we can properly dispose of our trash (or maybe not even make any garbage at all!). We would just throw them anywhere, especially if we are at the beach. And now, our oceans are suffering because of us.
Now, I don't know if anybody's reading this blog. But in case you are, maybe, just maybe, you can help do something about our beaches. If you cannot help clean up the beach, then maybe you can try not to add to the garbage that's already floating in our oceans and beaches.
The beaches need our help and I hope we can do something about it. I want to do a beach clean up. I plan on doing so when I visit the beach. I don't know when but hopefully soon. :) I hope my friends would be supportive. We just need to pick up pieces of trash that we come across on the beach and bring them to the proper place for disposal. I am willing to feed people who may want to join me when I do that.
Please do help our beaches in your own way. :)
